Our two-year partnership 2025-27
Welcome to TextSavvy Enfield

In September 2025 we launched our two-year partnership with Enfield local council and schools aiming to develop a consistent and coherent approach to reading and vocabulary instruction across primary and secondary schools in the borough.
The aims of the partnership
The partnership will focus on reading in the classroom across upper Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 (Years 5 – 8). It will aim to raise reading attainment at KS2 so that Enfield pupils are aligned with the London average, and to improve reading comprehension at KS3 in order to prepare pupils for the curriculum demands at KS4.
We aim to develop knowledge and understanding among school leaders around effective implementation and professional development, and to give support for planning for long-term change.
We will also build a shared understanding around the best ways to assess reading and diagnose issues for struggling readers.
Finally, the partnership aims to instil a sense of collaboration and collective identity across the borough with regards to the teaching of reading and the associated outcomes for all pupils, particularly disadvantaged.

How the partnership will work
In collaboration with the Partnership Steering Group, Greenshaw Research School will develop and deliver training to Headteachers, Senior Leaders and Literacy Leads in participating schools. Some of this training is focused on building knowledge for leaders, while some is focused on strategies to support pupils’ reading in the classroom.
Leaders in schools will then implement these approaches in their schools through their own planning and delivery of professional development. Schools will be arranged into clusters, and supported with implementation by a dedicated Hub Lead.
We look forward to working with schools in Enfield throughout 2025 – 27.
